This two-day workshop is designed to help HVAC professionals identify duct issues, accurately measure and size duct systems, and dispel common myths. By understanding the importance of proper duct design, participants will learn how to dramatically reduce the time spent solving problems while increasing comfort and lowering utility costs for customers.

This is not your typical boring class. It is highly interactive, with opportunities for participants to ask questions, engage in live classroom work, and participate in mock-up home designs that simulate real-world scenarios. Be prepared for hands-on activities that will deepen your understanding and prepare you for challenges in the field.

Day 1: Fundamental Air Design and Myth-Busting

  • Identify and dispel common misconceptions about duct systems (Duct-Busters).
  • Explore the behavior and characteristics of residential ductwork.
  • Learn key terms related to air flow and duct design.
  • Understand the minimum and maximum limits of air velocity and their impact on system performance.
  • Gain skills in accurately sizing ducts for optimal performance.
  • Learn how to size supply and return grills to ensure balanced air distribution.
  • Participate in live demonstrations to understand static pressure and how it measure.

Day 2: Advanced Duct Design and Troubleshooting

  • Learn the principles of effective duct design to improve system efficiency and comfort.
  • Be prepared to fill in our duct design worksheets
  • Why the Room Doesn’t Cool: Explore common problems that prevent a room from cooling or heating properly and how to resolve them.
  • Engage in live demonstrations to learn how to measure airflow accurately in real-world scenarios.
